Miniature Steam traction engines
Miniatures are an active part of the club.
These engines are an increasing presence in our preservation scene, they are exact replications of the full size machines, maintained and ran exactly as the full size would be, coal fired and lovingly maintained.

There are many sizes available, with some being more popular than others, 3 inch – 4 inch – 6 inch and 9 inch proving to be most popular.
The size refers to as inches per foot, a full sized engine drawings would be 12 inches, this derives from the fact that the machines have been made by the engineer, using original drawings and the measurements being reduced accordingly, for example on a 4 inch engine, if the full size fly wheel was 4.5 feet diameter the miniature would have a 18 inch diameter fly wheel.
The club welcomes these lovely engines and there are a couple already regularly attending the site by the members.
Pictured are a 6 inch Burrell single agricultural and a 4 inch Burrell DCC road engine.
